Distribution
The
News & Record has approximately 392 carriers that deliver
the newspapers to our subscribers’ homes. All of the carriers
are adult and drive cars on their routes, and all try to complete
the routes before 5:30 a.m. on weekdays and 6:30 a.m. on the weekends.
The
carriers start their work early in the morning, sometimes as early
as 1:00 AM. They either fold the newspapers or put a rubber band
on the paper or they put them in a plastic bag. The routes take
from 30 minutes to 2.5 hours to deliver, depending on the route.
Some routes are almost 100 miles long.
