Action Greensboro
In 2000, a report looked at Greensboro's economic health and found that its quality of life will decline if well-paying jobs are not recruited to replace those lost in traditional industries. As a response to the alarming findings, six task forces were formed under the umbrella of Action Greensboro to explore the following issues: public education, business recruitment, small business development, overall image, attraction & retention of young professionals, and downtown revitalization. The News & Record has contributed $235,000 toward this effort in addition to promotional ads seeking public input.
