Festival
of Lights Weekend
Each
year Downtown Greensboro comes ablaze with thousands of lights as our community welcomes the holy seasons of Christmas and Hanukkah.
The News & Record is the major sponsor for the event that occurs on the first weekend in December. Part of the celebration is Festival Sunday in the Cultural District bounded by the Greensboro
Children’s Museum, the Greensboro Public Library, the Greensboro Historical
Museum, the YWCA, and the Cultural Center. Festival goers enjoy entertainment at all venues, interactive
experiences, and food.
Empty
Stocking Fund
In
1927, this fund was started by the News & Record as a community
outreach project to help area children during the holiday season. Since
2000, more than $100,000 has been raised each year by caring citizens.
